Snowy Days....

We have had a surplus of snow this year! As I type this it is snowing again tonight! The kids in our youth group may still being to school in July if it keeps it up! ha! I am sure they will be thrilled with that! Here are some pics we took of recent snow we had. Isn't it beautiful! I never cease to be amazed at God's workmanship!

Our Snowgirl was ready for the beach!!

Mr. Lane all dressed up for some four-wheeling fun in the snow!!

We enjoyed playing in the snow--but we are so ready for spring, sunshine, and 70ish weather!!

Mellow Yellow

Mr. Lane and I have been discussing painting our bedroom a shade of yellow. The exact shade has yet to be determined. ;) Below are some pics of rooms that have touches of yellow that I think are beautiful.

The room below would be perfect for someone going for a light and airy beach look. I think it feels so inviting and comfy.

The room below is classy and elegant without being too stuffy or formal. The mixture of using yellows and whites give a very clean feel.

I picked up several color swatches to determine the exact shade of yellow I want to use. Our room has a large double window so I receives a lot of afternoon light.  I want it to have a light and fresh feeling. Something you would find in a nice villa at the beach! ;) As soon as the color has been determined and applied I will post pictures.

Welcome to Savannah Ya'll

Mr. Lane and I love Savannah!!

We have traveled there for the last three years at least once a year. Each time there is always something new to see. I have been working on a Spring vacation and we had originally been planning to go to DC, but I have been missing my sweet Savannah so I think we will go to the beach instead. Savannah is only about 20-30 minutes away from Hilton Head so we love to head down there!

The best steak you ever put in your mouth can be found on River Street at the Boar's Head:
Yum Yum!!

Another favorite is Paula Deen's, if you go to Savannah you must try Paula!

Be warned: make sure you go early and get your name on the list. This place fills up quickly! People line up every morning to get their name on the dinner list. It's good Ya'll!!

There are so many things to see and do in Savannah. If you like history this is the place for you. If you like lo-key no hassle vacations this is the place for you. If you like to funky, one of a kind shops this is the place for you. If you like sweets this is the place for you:

River Street Sweets (world famous pralines) extra yummy, the smell will draw you in and the samples are free ;)

Dear Savannah,

Plates on the wall, Plates on the wall

my dining room

don't be looking like a fool, put your plates on the wall. okay, I just couldn't resist. I don't even watch American Idol, but unless you have been living under a rock, I am sure you have heard the pants on the ground song. haha!

I currently have a stack on my dining room table like the one below, just begging to be used. I just haven't decided where to hang them yet. Decisions, decisions!

Anywho, on to the good stuff..... PLATES. I love all different types of dishes!! (as mr. lane can attest to) :)  You can use plates in so many fun ways: to eat on (ha! why would you want to do that when you can turn them into artwork), you can put them on an easel for display, or you can do what I like to do hang them on the wall. Now, I know this is not groundbreaking news and I am sure that there have been plenty of blog posts about decorating with plates.

This is a more modern take on grouping plates. Not really my style, but would probably look great in a modern setting.

I love the black and white combination above! Brilliant!

I love the image above. I think the colors are so nice and calming!

I buy most of my plates and platters at Marshalls or Home Goods. You can get them cheap! Try something new. Have a little nook under your cabinets? Hang a plate or three. I like to hang them in my kitchen and dining room, but I have also used them in my living room and bedrooms.
